What to Know About Pocket Shot Slingshots

A slingshot is a weapon that generally uses a sort of elastic to launch small projectiles. These can be balls or rocks or some other small object. Original slingshots have the elastic attached to a Y-shaped item, which could be a branch or twig, or it can be made of wood or metal commercially. The slingshot is often one of the first weapon-like toys that children use; these are usually made to be much less powerful than the actual weapons in order to prevent serious injury. Those that are not toys are illegal in some areas because they are a type of weapon. It is important to know the state and county regulations regarding slingshots before purchasing and using one.

The Pocket Shot slingshot is not a toy. It can kill small creatures, destroy knick-knacks, and put eyes out. Eye protection is highly recommended. Caution should be used when shooting this slingshot.

Pocket Shot slingshots are different from standard slingshots. Rather than starting with a divided, forked handle and using a strip of stretchy material with a projectile pocket, the Pocket Shot is a circle of solid material and a pouch of stretchy material. The pouch is made of high-quality latex. It can easily be carried in a pocket and is one of the first true pocket slingshots that has ever been made.

The Pocket Shot slingshot comes with two pouches. One is already installed; it is black latex and can shoot the projectile up to 300 fps. The alternative is the Pocket Shot pro blue latex which can get up to 350 fps; however, the increase in speed is accompanied by a reduction in durability, resulting in fewer shots per pouch.

The pouches are consumable. This means they will need to be replaced regularly. The pouches will last through 200-400 shots, depending on which pouch, the projectile used, and the skill of the user. The pro pouches may need to be replaced closer to the lower end of the range even by a skilled user but the faster speed is worth it, especially in a competitive situation.

The power fins are specially designed to increase power and accuracy. Each pouch is inspected for quality before sending to users.

The three-part base consists of a base ring, a locking ring, and a cap. Each is identical to the others due to precision machining. This three-part system makes it simple to switch out an old pouch for a new one, or to switch between a practice pouch and a pro pouch. These parts are made from polycarbonate composite that is made to withstand high impact.

The Pocket Shot is made in the USA. It was created in the USA and is built here.

Reloading and reshooting can be done quickly and without taking one’s eyes off the target. Because the shot can be dropped in and it will settle into the right place automatically, reloading does not require looking at the device.

The Pocket Shot is a high-powered slingshot. The impact resulting from Pocket-Shot ammunition is 4 to 6 times that of a standard slingshot. Pocket Shot power is stronger than air rifles, paintball guns, and airsoft guns.

Many kinds of ammunition are compatible with the Pocket Shot. It is recommended to use larger shot (1/4″ – 5/16″); BBs are smaller than recommended and could damage the pouches. Larger shot such as paintball, airsoft, and 5/16 carbon steel spheres are recommended. The original purchase includes 100 slugs that are ¼”. It is also not recommended to use stones or other sharp or irregular items, as these can cause damage to the pouch resulting in the need to replace it sooner. However, it can shoot anything that will fit inside the pouch; even multiple things at once, though speed and accuracy may suffer.

Pocket Shot arrow hunting is also possible with the Whisker Biscuit cap. ¾ inch arrows can be shot up to 150 fps. While standard arrows can be used with the Pocket Shot, one may find better results using the Pocket Shot arrows that are optimized for use with the pouch and arrow cap.

The self-contained nature of the Pocket Shot means that extra ammunition and pouches can be stored inside; the cap fits securely and prevents loss of anything kept inside.

For those who wish to try out the Pocket Shot for themselves – or add one to their survival kit – there are several options available.
